Chalk Cloth (or Chalkboard Fabric) is one of the most exciting new fabrics on the market with countless possibilities for practical purposes and fun for kids. Chalk Cloth is an oilcloth with a special coated surface, making it very durable and is able to be written on with chalks, wiped clean then used over and over again just like a traditional blackboard.
Use it to make Calendars, Aprons, Bulletin Boards, Kitchen Message Boards, Book Covers, Placemats, Signs, in the classroom, to decorate walls in children's bedrooms, or just for them to have fun with whilst playing or travelling. Just let your imagination go!
Featured as a Kitchen Message Board project in Machine Embroidery & Textile Art Magazine Vol.14 No.8 by Julie M. Hall. Julie has used her CD designs from "Coffee, Tea, Me?"
IMPORTANT: You must "cure" your new Chalk Cloth before using it for the first time. This is done by laying a piece of chalk on its side on the surface of the Chalk Cloth and rubbing it all over, side to side, then top to bottom. Repeat this once more, then it's ready for use.
Width: 50cm x 60cm (Also available by the metre and 120cm wide)
Colour: Black
Fibre Content: PVC Polyester & Cotton
Judy's Note: It is recommended to use a size 90/14 sewing machine needle, teflon presser foot, monofilament thread (and you know I recommend Superior Thread's Monopoly), cool iron and a pressing cloth such as a Rajah Cloth. Wash with warm soapy sponge, then dry with soft cloth.
Also, this is the original Chalk Cloth of excellent quality.
