On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation.
It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future."
Every year Darling Harbour hosts Sydney's biggest Australia Day celebrations with an impressive line-up of free entertainment for all and guess who's going to be there?
True, as you read this, I'm having a weekend in Sydney with my two daughters for a girls' weekend, being tourists, joining in the festivities, shop shop shop till we drop, plus, going to the stage show of "Billy Elliott". What fun!
This is my summer getaway for a few days because it's been pretty full-on with December Christmas shopping and now the January Website's Birthday Celebrations. As part of my Christmas present, the girls organized all this and now it's happening. Bet you're envious!
We have finally had a little rain, certainly not like the floods in Queensland, but a couple of inches to brighten the countryside up. Dams are full and the paddocks have greened up. John is making some new fences and gates which Rowan has silver-frosted and says the whole place is starting to sparkle!

I received a belated Christmas present from one of my friends/staff of another famous photo called "Just Checkin' " which some of you may have received during last year as an email of Just Checkin' to see if you're still on the computer and "Yes, you are!" sort of thing. Liz made it into a wall-hanging for me using a photo transfer method and free-motion embroidery. Aren't I just the luckiest one?
 A few weeks ago, Melinda and her girls, Kirsten, Courtney & Ashleigh, came to visit for a week and, as usual, we had a day sewing. They made some pyjama boxer shorts and then matched up a purchased T-Shirt with some appliqués of the pj fabric using Heat'n Bond Original so as no satin-stitching around the edges was necessary.
They loved using Grandma's overlocker but were also excited about using my electric scissors - that was the ultimate! I'm referring to the My-T-Fine Cutter, such a breeze for cutting around a dressmaking pattern. So, what do you think of their efforts shown here? I'm showing you this so as you may have an idea for helping your offspring to sew something they'll love.
 Last weekend, Jasmine needed to get away from her two big brothers for a few days, so to Grandma's she came! She wanted to learn how to crochet, so here she is making a little cover for her Zen MP3 Player. Plus, she made heaps of Pom Pons with the Clover Tools. She's now teaching one of her brother's how to crochet!!! She's 9!
I'm in training at the moment because as each one turns 10, we have to climb The Rock hill. Easter is when this is to happen, so Grandma is walking every day getting fit for the event as it's a pretty steep climb towards the end. Thank goodness Jasmine is the last to turn 10.
