1. SHOWS
Perth's Craft & Quilt
Fair commences on Wed. 23rd until Sunday 27th May being held at the Perth
Convention Exhibition Centre from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily. As I write this, John
and a fellow Exhibitor friend are motoring across the Nullabor with our stock
whilst I will be flying into the west on Saturday. Just the same, if there is
anything in particular you've forgotten about asking me to bring for you, please
email me before the show starts and I can hold it aside for you. As you know, we
are unable to take multitudes of each item and this saves you being disappointed
that we've sold out of something you had in mind when you visit our stand.
Remember to also visit our website and print off the Show Coupons which you must
hand to us if you want to take advantage of our Special Show Offers.
We are on Stand A01
in Aisle A, first on the left hand side as you enter so you really can't miss
us. I've had three other Exhibitors contact me asking for extra staff for the
Fair, so if anyone would like to work the five days of the show, please contact
me for more information and I'll pass your details on. I too, would like to have
a backup please for our own Stand.

WORKSHOPS
The Powers To Be were not
shining favourably upon Punch with Judy when the Craft Fair Friend magazine for
Perth's Show was printed because we've been left out of it entirely for the
Daily Workshops during the Show. I think the word "flabbergasted" is a little
too soft to describe my reaction and certainly the organizers were upset with
the omission, but with all due credit to them, they have acted responsively and
supportively compromising with the following request of mine. They also
apologize for any dismay this may have caused you and I. They added an extra
Workshop Room for me and allowed me to have two workshops daily in the extended
time of ¾ hour each. I publicly wish to thank them so as you appreciate their
caring attitude too. A similar circumstance happened to me in Melbourne earlier
this year with another organization but not with the same outcome. Remember, it
IS listed on their website, it will be printed on the handouts given out at the
Show, but it ISN'T in the Craft Fair Friend that you may already have
received.
Very
Important Announcement: Workshop 5 at 11.00 am daily. "What's New in Patchwork & Machine Embroidery?" See the
latest tools, nifty notions and groovy gadgets for patchwork and machine
embroidery. All new products.
Workshop 5 at 1.00pm daily.
"Inspirational Ideas using Pleat Makers" Ever
thought of using a Pleat Maker for Prairie Points, Rosettes, Flowers, Shark's
Teeth, Scenery, Inserts or Fans? Judy demonstrates what she claims is the most
versatile product she's ever used! Be shown the 'how-to-do-it' easy
steps.
Pre-Show
Seminar: On
Monday 21st May from 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm I'll be holding a Seminar/Lecture on the
excitement of sewing scallops, waves, curves and circles in your garments and
quilts. This is really an inspiring few hours of how to allow "movement" in your
quilting, garment making, home decorating and general sewing not to be painful
and all the tips given are invaluable. Don't avoid sewing circles and curves any
longer, let me show you how to sew them with ease. Borders, Binding and several
other Inspirational Ideas will make you rethink curves. Circles and Curves Seminar cost is $30.00 which
includes project leaflets, a 10% Discount Voucher, a purple Punch with Judy bag
and light refreshment. Good value?
3. RETREATS
These are held in our
Warehouse at The Rock and full particulars can be emailed to you upon request.
The Machine Embroidery Retreat from 2nd to 4th June is booked out, but I'm
always willing to have a waiting list if you so wish just in case someone has an
emergency and has to cancel. There are still some vacancies in the second Machine Embroidery Techniques Retreat on though being held
from 6th to 8th June. This one includes many free-motion embroidery techniques
for other than computerized machines. Would you like to know more about the
following? Hemstitching, Couching, Feather Stitching, Pintucking , Stippling,
Appliqué Stitch, Candlewicking, Double Eye Needle Embroidery, Shrink Embroidery,
Fusible Thread, Machine Trapunto etc.
There's only about 5
vacancies left in the Overlocking Retreat with Anne van der Kley being held from
14th to 16th July if you were thinking of coming. Full information has been
emailed out to those who expressed interest, so if you've not received yours,
please email me. This will be a fabulous workshop and ever so inspiring with
such a talented lady. Hurry to enrol so as not to miss the opportunity. The
photos of the projects are mouth watering.
4. WHAT'S NEW
Ever so much! Visit the
website regularly and go to the What's New icon because I'm forever adding to it
as new products arrive.
The most fantastic addition which I'm so excited
about is the introduction of Loralie Designs
to our range of Machine Embroidery CDs plus some of their fabric and their
wonderful caricatures in Appliqués. There's more to come in Gift lines
too.
Angie Spong's CDs will be
added next week even though we've been selling these for some time, Angie being
a very talented Kiwi and has been featured many times in Machine Embroidery
magazines. Numerous wonderful new CDs from Hatched in Africa ( on the site
next week) leave us all wanting to sew all day every day.
Heaps of new patterns too……. You know how I
love bag patterns, do take a look at some really exciting ones from Scrap-Bags and
Contemporary
Sashiko. Both fabulous. The former are most unusual and the latter are
oriental garments made as bags or pillows. The book Sashiko Handbags is
intriguing, making 14 handbags from folding a 14 inch square of fabric.
Interesting? Then we've added a new book from Pride Publishing called Bags,
Totes & Purses giving numerous projects with great variety.
StudioKat
Designs have certainly been a runaway success with their range of bag
patterns, so it is with pleasure I give you another in their range.
Porta-Pockets enable you to place all your important necessitities in one unit
which then pops inside any other bag you wish to use for the day. Sensible? Sure
is.
New patterns for Punchneedle
Embroidery from Critter Patten
Works.
New patterns to use with The Wave Edge Ruler
and also the WonderArc Ruler.
To whet your appetite,
already arrived but not yet on the website, is the full range of Hemingworth
Threads in their revolutionary new dispenser that eliminates lots of problems
associated with poor feeding. Hemingworth Thread is a tri-lobal polyester
treated with silicon for incredibly smooth stitching. We also have their machine
embroidery stabilizers but more on that later. You will definitely approve of
our introductory special offer for these.
Arriving in the next few
weeks is the full range of Floriani Stabilizers too.
5. MADE IN AUSTRALIA
Jenny Haskins has a new Machine Embroidery CD
released entitled Gilded
Memories which you will find most versatile and will help you recall your
treasured memories onto fabric.
Dianne Johnston is a
prolific Australian Quilter who dyes her own fabric range and has beautiful
appliqué designs; Julie Hall has digitized some of Dianne's designs for a new
Machine Embroidery CD. It's to "die for".
Two fabulous new templates
from The Sewing Revolution people called The
Double Mitre Ruler (brilliant) and their new Template Marker which is ever
so handy for quilters.
6. SPECIALS
I would like to thank you for your wonderful response to
our Mother's Day specials. There are certainly numerous people right around
Australia now sewing in better light thanks to the Ott-Lite offer you scooped
up. I've arranged for this to continue for the remainder of May. A FREE Ott-Lite
Desk Task Lamp valued at $85.00 with every Ott-Lite
Floor Lamp purchased which has already been reduced by 23%. Details are on
our homepage. $7.50 postage anywhere in Australia.
They are also cutting with
ease since the My-T-Fine
Cutter, a cordless electric scissor, seemed to go well for Mother's Day too.
We continue to receive emails from users singing their praises and that's the
best advertisement for any product.
Also, the 3
piece Quilted Trolley Bag Sets have all gone in Blue Slate, but we've since
been informed that this special can continue for a little while. Camel or Black
are the two new colours being offered. Link for these
The May Special showing on
the homepage at present is too good to miss out on for Machine
Embroiderers.
