SHOWS
Perth Craft & Quilt Fair - Perth Convention Exhibition Centre, 18th to 22nd May, 9.00am to 5.00pm
Always great to journey to the West for the only show in the calendar we do in WA. Read all about the Show at www.craftfair.com.au giving particulars about the displays, classes, guests and which Exhibitors will be present. Make sure you add a Craft Tip to the Tree of Knowledge at the show and if your tip is judged to be among the top 101 of those received, it could be published in a book during 2012 called "101 Tips for Craft".
We will be attending in our usual position of Stand A01 and holding daily workshops and hands-on classes - details following. John will be driving over quite early, so I will need any special orders from you before noon on Tuesday 10th May please. This is very popular and so quick and easy for you at the show. No special orders after Tuesday can be packed though.
Indeed a very busy schedule at the Show:

My daily workshop at the Show is at 10.30am in Workshop 4
"Stars, Diamonds & Kaleidoscopes" - Don't be afraid of these shapes any more. I will explain new techniques with new tools to make them all a piece of cake! Suitable for both beginners and advanced.
At
12 noon, I will be a Guest Presenter on a new venture run by the organizers to encourage dressmaking and sewing in general. Not sure at this stage whereabouts at the show this is to be held, or indeed, it's full name, but it will be on the brochures handed out as you enter the Show. It is encouraging people to sew for themselves again giving demonstrations of "how to do it" plus some quick tips for more professional results. I have chosen to demonstrate the following:
"Why a Fusible Thread? Once in a while, a new idea or technique or product comes along that revolutionizes the way we do something. Such is the case with Charlotte's Fusible Web, a new fusible thread. Ideas, techniques and results are amazing - hems, facings, putting in zippers, applique, binding etc."

At
12.15pm at the new
"What's Hot Live", Liz will be presenting "Quick tips for making bags using accessories and hardware". This has so many ideas that we possibly should've made it a full seminar.
Craft Circles are always popular as the hands-on aspect appeals to many. We have a great class to offer you at
1.00pm in Craft Circle 2 where upon you'll learn
"Stick
Weaving".

Liz will show you how to make a quick scarf using the age-old traditional technique of weaving with wooden sticks. Absolutely easy, fun to do and suitable for any age. Weaving Sticks are provided on loan in the class but students may purchase them for a special class price. Kit includes 2 balls of yarn and instructions.
Cost if $15.00 and you'll need to book on Stand A01. I will also accept emailed bookings.

2.30pm brings us to
"What's Hot Live" again and this time we show you how easy it is to make folded fabric flowers using Clover's new range of templates.
"Flowers, Frills & Kanzashi Folded Flowers". Learn how to make ever-so-easy flip 'n fold frilled flowers and folded-fabric Kanzashi flowers with traditional Japanese techniques.
I said would be busy!
Don't forget your Show Coupons too.
Print them and collect your discounted products or receive your FREEBIES. No coupon, No Offer.

The Curve Master Online Class commences on 1st June and confirmations will be emailed with requirements list before I leave for Perth Show. Not long now before we commence our first Lesson. Enrol now if you wish to join us.
The Westalee Mystery Sampler Quilt Online Class has proven to be the most popular of all and students are producing some excellent blocks shown on their Yahoo Group. This is a very busy, very chatty bunch of keen quilters; some experienced, some have never made a quilt before, some are teenages, some we don't discuss age.

TIPS & TUTORIALS
I've recently added some more tutorials to the Westalee Design Rulers range that may be of interest to you. The tutorial on Y Seams is particularly interesting. Of course, there are many others in the tutorials section on our website to help you too. You can print them and use them side by side as your work.

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that Clover's Fork Pins are ideal for holding cross section seams for Patchwork Blocks? Online Students have been marvelling at how effective these are. Maybe you should try them too?

Did you know that Clover's new Stack 'n Store Bobbin Tower actually allows for each layer to separate, thus allowing you to take just a few selected threads to a class? Great idea.
Footnote: If anyone who attended my presentation for the Australian Sewing Guild in Launceston a week ago and purchased one of these, double check to see if you have the dark green base because I found one amongst my items when packing up.
Have you visited my Blog lately? Keep up to date on our journeys to and fro the shows plus life at The Rock. More and more are selecting the option to be informed when new postings are made. They are available on Facebook too.
Till next time,
