Punch with Judy :: Retreat Students Gallery

Retreat Students Gallery

Punch with Judy holds 3 Day Retreats in Wagga or sometimes at The Rock, depending upon enrolments and the course itself. Many a time someone enquires re attending but seems a little hesitant about what they’ll learn, what to bring, what the projects look like, whether or not their level of expertise is suitable, or for whatever reason……….I thought compiling a few photos of past Retreatees projects and a few words from some students, may encourage others to join us for these wonderfully educational and entertaining Retreats.

Here are some photos of completed Heirloom Bolster Cushions made during our Pleat Maker Techniques Retreat in August, 2007. Norma Freiberg made the pale blue cushion and Liz Colledge made the teal coloured one. Congratulations girls, they look superb.

Norma Freiberg learned how to machine embroider over textured fabrics at a recent Machine Embroidery Retreat and was so thrilled that she returned home to make this beautiful Table Runner. Norma used our Pleat Maker for the texturing and for the Prairie Point trim. Why not join us for one of our "More Machine Embroidery Retreats"?

Norma also completed a beautiful cutwork pillow case which she says looks superb on her bed. I’m so envious as I have a “blue” bedroom in my house too. Norma started this in the Machine Embroidery Retreat held here in June 2007 then completed it at home, so other students will be interested to see the end result too. Congratulations Norma.

“Thank you to you & to Robyn for the Retreat. I have much more confidence with my Embroidery now, especially knowing which stabiliser to use with which fabric & how to hoop it. Now comes the fun of putting it in to practice.
Thank you to you, John & your family for the hospitality of being in your home . Two lovely evenings chatting with the other "girls".
Seeing the "Workings" of Punch with Judy was great. You are so well organised!
Looking forward to the Advanced Retreat next year.

Norma made a tray after learning how to sew on Balsa Wood at the Advanced Machine Embroidery Retreat 2006.
Norma wrote “The design for this tray was taken from Hatched in Africa's Jacobean Jewels. It was embroidered on balsa wood, glued to the base of a tray and sealed with epoxy resin. These designs work well as they are not too dense. The sides of the tray were painted, crackled and sealed with a clear varnish. Practical and great fun.”
Norma proudly shows the projects she made at the first Machine Embroidery Retreat she attended. These are some of the projects taught in that class including the beautiful tablecloth

Liz made these the Little Lone Star Cushion and the Bargello Table Centrepiece using Quiltsmart’s Printed Fusible Interfacing in the Patchwork Retreat.
You may very well recognize them as Liz has generously loaned them to me for display on my show stands.

Trish Ivers attending the Hatched in Africa Retreat in November 2006, whereby all the students stitched out the beautiful Fantasy Phoenix. Here’s Trish’s final work of art of which she’s quite rightly so, very proud of!

Shirley Reaburn said "Here's a photo of one of the cushions I made for Christmas using a Foldy Stuff Pattern from the Patchwork Retreat. This one was for my grand-daughter, Charlotte, aged 3. "
