Use for knit fabrics. The medium ball point doesn’t damage the knitted fabric as it slips in between the fibres, not through them.

Schmetz Hemstitch Needle (Wing Needle)
Use for hemstitching, heirloom embroidery or decorative stitching on tightly woven fabric such as batiste.
The wing needle has “fins” on sides of shank to crate holes as you sew. Years ago called “spoke-stitching”.

Schmetz Metallic/Metafil Needles
Use for metallic threads for trouble-free sewing. The large eye makes it easier for threading, but the main reason for using these is the large groove down the front for the metallic thread to lie preventing shredding of those delicate metallic threads during stitch formation.
