Bubble Jet Set 2000 Information Sheet

Bubble Jet Set 2000:

Bubble Jet Set 2000 is the first fabric treatment in the world that can create permanent images on natural fabrics with Ink Jet Printers and maintain the same feel and texture of the fabric. The fabric will maintain its soft feel, which gives you the ability to produce better products. Also, no steaming of the fabric, or any other expensive processes, is required to set the images to the fabric. You simply print on the fabric, wash the fabric and you are finished.

Bubble Jet Set 2000 Directions:

  1. Shake well and pour enough solution to cover the fabric into a shallow tray.
  2. Saturate the fabric in the solution for 5 minutes.
  3. Allow the fabric to drip dry. Do not wring or squeeze.
    If you are in a hurry, you may use a hair dryer.
    You may pour any unused solution into a separate clean bottle for later use.
  4. Iron the fabric onto the shiny side of Reynold's Freezer Paper.
  5. Cut to fit the size of your printer, usually A4 size.
  6. Select the photo/picture you wish to reproduce on the fabric.
  7. It is preferable to test the colouring of your printer first onto regular paper.
  8. Print onto the treated fabric and allow to "sit" for 30 minutes. It should be noted that it is preferable to print immediately on your treated fabric for best results.
  9. Select a flat pan or bowl and fill with 1 gallon (3.75 litres) of cold water.
  10. Add 2 - 4 cap fulls of Bubble Jet Rinse or mild detergent.
  11. Agitate printed fabric by hand for 2 minutes. Do not allow soaking.
  12. Allow the fabric to drip dry or lay flat on a towel. Do not wring.
  13. For best results wash with Bubble Jet Rinse when laundering is required.

Bubble Jet Rinse:

Bubble Jet Rinse is a mild detergent for direct ink and dye applications. It is excellent for washing fabrics that were recently dyed or painted. It prevents fabrics from fading thereby retaining the original colouring. Bubble Jet Rinse contains no perfumes and no bleach products, which could be abrasive to your fabric. Many detergents attract recently applied inks and dyes, but Bubble Jet Rinse contains no sodium carbonate which is the number one reason why fabrics fade after washing. Just add 4 cap fulls or 2oz of Bubble Jet Rinse in the washing machine when washing your fabric. Bubble Jet Rinse is excellent for bleeding and fading fabrics, spotting, removing waxes, knitting oils and mill dirt form all types of yarns and fabrics.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Will this product work on my printer?

This product will work with any printer including HP printers that use ink jet or bubble jet technology. You simply soak the fabric in the Bubble Jet Set solution for 5 minutes, and then allow to dry. Then iron treated fabric to the shiny side of the freezer paper. Once this is completed simply feed fabric through your printer exactly like a sheet of paper. Refer to the complete instructions above.

2. Will this product damage my printer?

No. This product does not affect the printer because it does not connect to the printer in any way.

3. Do I need to pre-wash the fabric?

This product was tested with many different fabrics and there are no indications that you need to pre-wash the fabric before applying the Bubble Jet Set solution. However, many crafters state they have seen better results with this process but it is not proven that this is true. Fabrics vary so much and if you feel there is an abundance of "sizing" in the selected fabric, then it would be advisable to pre-wash that fabric.

4. What types of fabrics work the best?

This product was designed to work with 100% cottons and 100% silks. It may appear to work on other fabrics but you will have a much greater colour loss if you use any fabrics other than 100% cotton or 100% silk.

5. How much colour loss should I expect?

This is very important to understand because the results many vary depending on what type of printer you may have. This also depends on what mode you print in because if your printer has the capability to put more ink on the fabric, then your image will appear to be brighter. The more ink the printer can put on the fabric, the better the picture will look. Not all printers have this capability and the printer assumes it is printing on paper. The fabric will absorb most of the ink and it will appear to have faded, but in reality the fabric is heavier than paper. I all cases we haven't found anything greater than a 10% colour loss for all printers.

6. Should the colour look different on fabric?

Yes. The colour will look different on fabric because of the density of the fabric. This process is no different than dying a shirt or a pair of pants. It is important to know that colours will look deeper on fabric and appear lighter on paper. Also, some detergents may have an effect on the inks. Results may vary.

7. Does this product make the fabric stiff?

No and yes. The fabric will be stiff when the treated fabric dries, but when you wash the fabric it will return to its natural feel and texture.

8. Can I reuse the product?

Yes. You can reuse this product until the last drop is gone. It is important to remember to put the top on the bottle after you have finished using it.

9. What is the best way to dry the fabric after it is treated?

When you soak your fabric in the Bubble Jet Set solution, the best way to allow the fabric to dry is to hang dry the fabric. However, many have found great results in allowing the fabric to dry on a towel.

10. Do I need to wait the full 24 hors before washing?

Only with the original formula. The new Bubble Jet Set 2000 will dry in 30 minutes.

11. Can I blow dry the fabric when treated?

Yes. If you are in a rush and you want your fabric to dry faster, simply blow dry the treated fabric (before printing) and in 3 - 5 minutes you are ready to iron to the Reynold's Freezer Paper and start printing.

12. Is the product toxic or dangerous?

This product is to be treated as a common household product. It can be opened in the house and you do not need any special precautions to use the product. We recommend that you use rubber gloves and keep the windows open while you are using it.

13. Can I wash finished fabric in the washing machine?

Yes. We recommend that you wash the fabric in the washing machine to finalize the setting process of the fabric. (If you wash by hand, please wash for 3 - 5 minutes and use the Bubble Jet Rinse.)

14. Will the printed design fade with continuous washing?

Yes. Remember, this process is just like dyeing a shirt and it you wash that shirt over and over again you will start to see the colours fading.

15. What is the shelf life of the product?

The product was tested to shelf life for 1 full year.

16. Will heat of cold affect the products?

Freezing is not recommended but it has no effect on the chemical compound. Extreme heat is currently being tested.

17. Does the weight of the fabric affect print quality?

Yes. The weight of the fabric has a big effect on the quality. In most cases, the heavier the fabric the better the quality. This also varies with each printer.

18. How many fabric sheets can I make out of one 32 oz bottle?

It takes less than a ½ an ounce to make one fabric sheet. But, in general, between 50 and 60 sheets.

19. Fabric printing vs paper printing.

Paper printing will have a different effect on ink than fabric printing. The colours will appear to be different but in reality it is because of the change from paper to fabric.
