Olfa "Maru-Cutter" Rolling Scissors
The OLFA 45-C Maru Rolling Scissors feature a rotary blade and a flat bottom for controlled cutting without damaging the surface underneath. The tungsten tool steel blades can also be quickly and easily replaced at the end of their life. The handle is smooth and lightweight, making using this cutter comfortable and easy.
The cutter uses a regular Olfa 45mm Replacement Blade or the Tungsten 45mm Endurance Blade and viewing the video in the additional product information below is a MUST. Particularly for rotating the blade in invrements from time to time from 1 through to 12. When blade dullness is detected, simply rotate the blade a little (or one number, depending upon which blade you are using), so as you change to a new sharp blade point. The blade is circular but does not rotate like a rotary cutter.
This hand-held cutting begins with a solid base that protects the surface below the cut. The heavy-duty ABS handle offers a large grip that is comfortable and easy to push, even when wearing gloves. The sturdy, flat base glides over the base surface for confident cutting without damage.
The tool comes preloaded with an extra-sharp OLFA 45mm Tungsten Steel Rotary Blade. The blade is fixed in place to provide leverage and easy cutting of demanding construction materials. Each blade offers (12) cutting points for volumes of work with less blade changes. When a section gets dull, loosen the wing-nut screw, and rotate the blade slightly for a fresh cutting edge.
The screw design also provides fast and efficient tool-free blade changes.
Judy's Note: Using the cutter is an "eye-balling" cut, but I think you could slide the yellow edge to the left of the blade, alongside a quilting ruler so as you may achieve a straight cut. Maybe for cutting several layers of fabric in a straight line for fabric strips -would love you to try it and report back by wriitng a review!
The Olfa "Maru-Cutter" Rolling Scissors or Carpet/Lino Cutter is actually a very useful tool for the handman or craftsperon, but I feel it would also be useful for cutting Template Plastic, Heavy Paper or Cardboard, or any other "material" that all sewers and quilters need to cut from time to time. No Rotary Cutting Mat required.
