Sewing Machine Feet - Sewing Supplies - Notions - CREATIVE FEET

The Satinedge™ foot is the most popular of the three Creative Feet™. There is no other foot on the market that has the features of this foot. The foot was originally designed for sewing satin stitches on the fabric's edge.

You do not have to guide your fabric the foot holds the fabric for you, so your satin stitches are always the same width. Because the stitch is formed over the metal guide pin your fabric lays flat.
Satinedge was designed for a blind sewer, if she can do it so can you!
Top Stitching and Edge Stitching are normally tedious. With this foot you simply move the guide pin away from the needle; the distance you chose is the distance your stitch will be from the fabric's edge. Instead of looking to guide your fabric, you push the fabric against the foot's guide and it makes sure the stitch is perfect! No more ripping! It works equally well on leather, ultra-leather, suede & ultra-suede. Top Stitching

Pintucking with the Satinedge™ foot allows you to sew a-true Pintuck, instead of using the double needle technique. Because the guide is adjustable, you are able to sew from 1/6" to just over ¼" Pintucks. Just move the guide away from the needle; the distance you choose is exactly the size your pintuck will be. Place the folded edge of your fabric against the left side of the guide pin and sew! It's that easy!

You are taught to watch your sewing machine needle as it swings left and right; making sure that the right-swing falls off the appliqué's edge. It is impossible for your eyes to focus on something moving so fast, so people have difficulty seeing. Generally people have assumed that their eyesight might not be what it use to be-and seek the help of their sewing machine dealer.

The dealers usually recommend an Open-toe appliqué foot. An Open-toe appliqué foot is simply a standard appliqué foot with the cross section in front of the zigzag opening removed. This does help you see the area better, however the cross section on the foot is designed to hold the fabric down so that the needle won't lift it as it raises out of the fabric. With this removed, you now are forced to hold the fabric down and you still can't see, because it's not that your vision is bad or that the opening in the foot is not large enough that makes it hard to see. The reason you have difficulty seeing is because you can't focus on the needle moving so fast.

The Satinedge™ foot has a wider zigzag opening than a standard appliqué foot but still has the cross section in front of the zigzag opening. You can see the appliqué's edge easily as you sew and you don't have to hold the fabric down. But what makes it even better is that you don't have to watch the needle at all! In fact you're not suppose to watch the needle with this foot! When sewing a satin stitch on an appliqué, you will watch the guide pin on the foot; making sure that-it rides just off the appliqué's edge. Suddenly you will have great eyesight again, because you're watching something that is sitting still rather than something that is moving.

Invisible Appliqué is a technique used generally for quilting, however it is also an attractive technique for garments. If you have ever seen a quilt with a non-geometrical shape like a heart and it looks as though it was sewn into a heart shaped hole, you have seen invisible appliqué. After preparing your fabric shapes for the appliqué process and the shape is ironed on, we sew it down using a 1.0mm wide zigzag stitch. We also use invisible thread to insure that the stitch is invisible.
