Mother's Day
2012
Happy Mother's Day! May I wish every Mother and Grandmother a wonderful day today as we celebrate such a special day honouring Mums everywhere! To our friends in all the other countries who also have today as their Mother's Day, a wish especially for you too. I've been spoilt already. Sharelle and Jasmine (#1 Daughter and #4 Granddaughter) stayed Friday night and we enjoyed a lovely meal at a Restaurant in Wagga. Sharelle gave me the beautiful card you see above, courtesy of John Sands Cards, but her written words brought tears to my eyes. "To Someone Special on Mother's Day who has been our rock forever. We would not know half of what we do or have achieved half of what we have without your inspiration. Thanks for being the best Mum in the world". Of course, you are ALL the best Mum in the world to your own children, so lap it all up today! Why was I spoilt? Inside the card was an open Gift Voucher to be pampered at Ella Bache! She knows that I'd never do such a self-indulgent feminine thing myself, so this is something to look forward to shortly. Hmm, what shall I choose? I've been packing for Perth Show so a good massage sounds inviting to ease off those aches and pains. Rowan, Hunter & Reece (Son and Grandsons #1 & #3) will be here today. Melinda (#2 Daughter) lives too far away to visit for the day. Getting another exciting present shortly from Hunter as he's made me something special at pre-school. Did you read in my Blog recently about my visit to his pre-school for Grandmother's Day? Read about his soccer team in my next Blog. I have a cute Grandma keyring that says "Grandma, your smile can lift our hearts and your arms are always open". We DO have an important role to play as Grandma as well as a Mother.
I was reading a beautiful verse this week that sums up the feelings I have for two of my best friends, my two daughters. I hope you may also share these thoughts.
You can see it in their eyes,
You can see it in their smiles,
You can see it in their lives,
To care and to understand,
Happy Mother's Day, Judy |
1. SHOWS Always a great show and this year's show promises to be one that shouldn't be missed by anyone living in the west.
Of course, you WILL visit us on
Stand A01, but also I extend an invitation to you to share the education and inspiration Liz and I will show you on the Nifty Notions Stand, in conjunction with Into Craft. Demonstrations will be
Anything you want brought especially to be collected at the Show needs to have a website order completed by the end of today please. Our stock leaves on Monday, so this is the deadline. Launceston Craft & Quilt Fair held last month. Thank you to all those faithful customers who attended the Show and enjoyed the experience. So many wonderful displays, classes and events. May I say how delighted I was to receive personal written thanks from the two winners of my sponsored awards in the Quilt displays. Not always do we know who won and sadly not always acknowledged, so thanks girls. A complete review is being performed by the show organizers and will be announced shortly. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - NEW ZEALAND Due to persistent and increasing requests for every feature of the Craft & Quilt Fairs to be also available for our Kiwi friends, all the wonderful displays shown at each Craft & Quilt Fair in Australia will now also be part of the New Zealand Show to be held at Hamilton from 6th to 9th September this year. As part of those special features, the Into Craft/Nifty Notions Stand will also proudly be included. I never thought so again, but Punch with Judy will once more be an Exhibitor in New Zealand - this year anyway! The organizers have penned it as "the best of Punch with Judy" because I have not succumbed to taking everything - says she with a smile. I most certainly hope these displays will draw even larger crowds each day, so start spreading the word amongst your friends and make sure you come from far and near to attend Hamilton. Lesley, who has helped me in the past at shows in Hamilton, can you email me please as my emails to you are being returned?
2. RETREATS We are presently reviewing dates of previously advertised Retreats for July and September as John is scheduled for a hip replacement in July and now I'm off to NZ in September. I am still taking expressions of interest though for both the Machine Embroidery Retreat and the Patchwork Retreat. View full particulars on our Retreats section. Currently running are two Online Classes using Westalee Design Rulers, the Curve Master Course, the Punchneedle Course and commencing next Tuesday, 15th May, another for the Pleatmaker. Everyone loves these and you should really consider enrolling. So easy and so flexible to suit your busy lifestyle. Download the lessons when it suits you; do as much or as little practical work using the projects offered. You may still join any of the above, it's easy to catch up. Visit our Online Classes section to choose which may suit you and read how they are held? You'll be pleasantly surprised. Would love to have you join in for a wonderful experience. 4. WHAT'S NEW
Where do I start here? There are numerous new products having been added in the last month that you certainly will have your eyes opened if you haven't visited What's New? for some time.
Of all our new products this month, the biggest sellers are my whacky Scissorheads (I dare you to wear these to your next sewing gathering), the Triangle Genie for making Half Square and Quarter Square Triangles without measuring (see the Table Runner pattern as an example), but also 3D Flying Geese and Kites, plus the Travel Iron Tote for your Mini Iron.
Maybe you'd like to make some of the new woven baskets from Clover?
The Handy Caddy is the ideal way to keep organized whilst you're sewing. Liz has
Many have been searching for pre-printed Quilt Signature Labels and we now have two sets to offer.
One of the best new products certainly must be Lapel Stick. It is a temporary fabric adhesive to replace basting, pinning, taping, spray adhesive or some stabilizers. Imaging! Hope you love it too, I know you will. So many other uses, read more about it.
The Quick Pleater Set will intrigue you, so easy to use. Make frills, pleats, including box pleats for all your home decorating projects.
Lots of new patterns from Deb Tucker to use with her new rulers and some new bag patterns. Please visit the What's New? section to view ALL the new products including some wonderful new Gift Mugs for mad quilters. These are great, love them. They also make ideal prizes for your Quilt Group.
Kym Goldup-Graham from The Sewing Revolution was our guest at the recent AQC and wowed everyone with her demonstrations of three new products. They keep coming up with new ideas to inspire quilters! View their full range here. We are hoping Kym may have time to attend more shows with us in the future.
1-2-3 Embroidery has a few new releases - their Chalkies Chalkboard Case will surely delight and amuse the young traveller. This week we shall add "Adorable Bears: It's a Boy!" followed soon after by one for the Girls!
Have fun exploring the whole range. As I said, so many new products.
6. SPECIALS
3-piece Trolley Bag Sets have been popular this month, several happy Mums today! But how could you resist an Electric Yarn Ball Winder for HALF PRICE? Are you a knitter? Maybe you Crochet or any other handcraft using wool. No adaptor required nor any batteries.
To be added this week will be a FREE Project Sheet for Clover's new E-Paper Tablet Keeper. 8. JUDY'S BLOG Always interesting tid-bits about our day to day antics and what I see at the shows. I know you like viewing the fantastic quilts which have won prizes at the shows. You can subscribe to my blog if you wish and then you'll receive an email when I upload a new blog each time. http://punchwithjudy.blogspot.com Simply visit Damaged & Discontinued, order whichever you please, then type in the Additional Comments section of your order that you wish to purchase the one from the D&D for such and such a price as the normal retail price will be showing on your order. Don't worry about that, we'll adjust it manually. I'll be updating this section again mid-week, after I get all my stock freighted off to Perth. 10. TIPS & TUTORIALS Some great new Tutorials for many of our new products, such as 10 tutorials for Deb Tucker's Rulers and Tools. Two wonderful new Tutorials showing how to use the Fasturn Turning Tools. These are excellent, well worth viewing whether or not you have any Fasturn tools.
11.
INTO CRAFT
The current Nifty Notions review is on Clover's Wonder Clips but this coming week a new editorial will be released which I've called "To Pin or to Glue - that is the question" and I'm sure you will gain numerous ideas for quick and easy applications of good quality glues available now. Of course, Into Craft has lots of other interesting stories, projects and ideas.
Did you know that this year, June has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays? This happens once every 823 years and is called "money bags". I hope it is for you (and me!). Take a look at your calendar, it's true. Did you know that the only food that doesn't spoil is honey? John has it in his tea, coffee and on his porridge. Definitely honey's biggest fan.
Did you know that those little plastic date clips on bread that you buy make excellent labellers for all those numerous cords we seem to have behind our computer? Just write on them with a texta which piece of equipment that particular cord belongs to. You can then see at a glance which is which rather than tracing it back to the unit.
13. GOLDEN OLDIES Do you have trouble seeing things when you need to use tweezers? Here's your answer - a Lighted MagniGrip. Yes, a light and a magnifier attached to a pair of tweezers. How's that?
Till next time, have a lovely Mother's Day and I hope you enjoy this Newsletter.
